GS (General Secretary) candidate of this panel SM Farhad said, ‘We are actually worried about DUCSU. The administration is behaving very one-sidedly.’
We are worried about DUCSU, the administration is behaving very unilaterally: Chhatra Shibir
Farhad said this at a press conference in front of Madhur Canteen of Dhaka University on Friday afternoon. He is the president of the Dhaka University branch of Chhatra Shibir. Before him, the organization’s VP candidate Md. Abu Sadiq Kayem highlighted the issues in the election manifesto of Chhatra Shibir at the press conference. Sadiq Kayem was the president of the previous committee of the Dhaka University branch of Chhatra Shibir. At the press conference, SM Farhad said, ‘Despite not being a legally authorized or mandated elected representative or being a part of the administration in any way, we have tried our best to solve various problems of the students. We cannot put too much pressure without the authorities. If we are elected, the first task in the first month will be to ensure housing allowance for everyone. Our capabilities and our past experience show that many problems can be solved if we work honestly.’
In response to a question from journalists, Farhad said, ‘We are actually worried about DUCSU. The administration is behaving very unilaterally. After a candidate organized various events including his food and drink at different places, when it ended, we saw a notice that food and drink will not be allowed from now on. Apart from that, color pictures will not be used in the campaign. A particular candidate will see that he has done various campaigns under the name of Kamal MedAid or different names. Their posters are still circulating all over the campus. Many people violate the policy, but nothing is happening.’
This leader of the Islamic Student Camp alleged that DUCSU’s election commission, various teachers including the hall principal, are representing the party by going to a party’s program. Farhad said, “He can join the party, but we are seriously alarmed by his behavior. However, given the amount of spontaneity with which university students are participating in DUCSU, I think if anyone stands in the way, the students will resist it.”
Among the promises made by Shibir’s VP candidate Abu Sadiq Qayem at the press conference are working to solve the housing crisis in the university, improving the quality of food in the canteen, and establishing a world-class library, etc.
